Averus has a vision that all companies will continuously look for ways to conserve resources and reduce their impact on our environment, while maintaining the highest level of service that customers expect. 

Our commitment to sustainability started in 2006.  We began with programming to reduce paper usage, simple steps like double-sided printing quickly evolved into larger initiatives.  

• Paper reduction. We introduced e-billing for customers of all sizes and beginning in 2012 developed mobile technology for our teams to use in the field.  By 2015, these tools were fully integrated into our operations.  In 2014, these efforts saved nearly one million sheets of paper – the equivalent of 120 trees.  Today, our customers can receive high-quality pictures of their services right to their email in real-time.  
• Fleet efficiency: In 2011, we began upgrading our fleet to more fuel-efficient vehicles.  By 2013, the transition was complete with Ford Transits, Chevy Cargo vans, and Nissan vans.  This significantly reduced fuel consumption and carbon emissions.  Upgraded fleets are now a regular process when efficiencies are reduced and better options are available.  
• Strategic hiring: positioning our teams and reducing their need to return to central locations for supplies benefits our customers, our teams, and the environment.  This has been a consistent practice, and we’ve continued to use technology to help drive decisions on placement for operations, teams, and supply storage.
• Water conservation: our Chicago area headquarters was outfitted with an industrial water filtration system that captures, filters, and reuses wastewater from our service area.  Some of this reclaimed water nourishes our on-site team garden, where we grow fruits and vegetables in upcycled container planters.  
• Recycling and up cycling: sure, we recycle paper, aluminum, tin, cardboard, and other similar items.  We also upcycle items within our operation; a barrel that once brought degreaser from a supplier is now used to store rags or capture wastewater.  Upcycling and recycling help us be efficient about our costs and reduce waste.  Another win-win.
